9 Non-Traditional Ways to Use Breast Milk

Posted on: September 15, 2011

You know, when you think about it, drinking cows milk is, in many way, the equivalent to drinking breast milk - that is what it is after all, breast milk for baby cows. So perhaps this makes you either cringe at the thought of milk in general (as an all around nutritionally dense bodily byproduct designed to nourish our offspring), or does it give you a slightly different view on breast milk as a whole?

Well if you can count yourself in the latter category, this article is going to be right up your alley. Read on for some of the best ways to put that breast milk to use in cooking. I mean, how cool is that, um, right?

#1: Breast Milk Popsicles

We all know we love frozen delights, and what could be better than a truly "home grown" frozen treat? You can mix that breast milk with chocolate, fruits, or whatever your mind comes up with. All you have to do after that is put the concoction into a popsicle mold and freeze it for a few hours! And if you want to really be a punk, serve one of these bad boys up to your friends next time they visit, then tell them what it was.

#2: The Breast Milk Cocktail

Boobs and booze, the perfect combination, am I right? What could be better than, at your next cocktail party, mixing up a creamy, alcoholic delight for your closest friends that has been spiked with breast milk, along with the normal (or above average) dose of liquor? In some places, the breast milk cocktail is even considered art. Granted, this is at the same place who had a vomit art exhibit, but hey, who am I to judge?

#3: Breast Milk Bread

I am just starting to think of all the clever names one might brand a breast milk-based artisan bread company and the list is just too funny for words. But in all seriousness, if, um, one can really talk about cooking with breast milk with any degree of seriousness, milk is a small, but vital component to many delicious artisan breads. Try using breast milk instead and you'll have yourself a very special loaf of flavorful, boobalicious, bread. (Sorry, couldn't help myself there.)

#4: Breast Milk Shake

You know, this just rolls right off the tongue so naturally when said aloud, it makes me wonder why breast milk shakes aren't the current rage right now. I mean, we are all super into health at the moment, and many of us feel bad for those poor cows, what with all the PETA protesting going on. So why not have a more humane, and, um, human-based milk shake alternative. The only thing different in the process of making one of these shakes is the use of human breast, instead of cow breast milk.

#5: Breast Milk Yogurt

We all know that yogurt is good for you, what with the active live cultures and all the other buzzwords we hear on a regular basis regarding the health benefits of yogurt. And while the good folks at Yoplait are not likely to be serving up breast milk yogurt alternatives any time soon, why not make it yourself? For a completely, um, unique, and (perhaps) tasty treat for baby or adult, use breast milk when creating homemade yogurt.

#6: Breast Milk Ice Cream

You had me at ice cream! I like breasts, and I certainly like ice cream, so if I don't think about the rest too much, I think I might be able to dig this idea. I love Ben & Jerry as much as the next person, but c'mon, if we are talking about innovation - something these guys are supposed to be known for when it comes to ice cream - why do they not have a "Breast Of the Best" flavor?

#7: Breast Milk Cupcakes

Think of the stories you will have to tell if, rather than using traditional cows milk to make those birthday cupcakes for your co-workers, you used breast milk instead. There are many avid breast milk cooking enthusiasts out there who swear that these are delightful, tasty treats. So next time you have breast milk on hand, whip up a batch of breastcakes and see what everyone thinks about it!

#8: Soups and Stews with Breast Milk

Any of us who know our way around the kitchen know that soups and stews are some of the best and most healthful creations that have a wide range of versatility. The use of milk in soups and stews is a great way to add a creaminess or a depth of flavor to the soup that it wouldn't otherwise have. Next time your making a pot of soup, consider a bit of breast milk and take it to the next level.

#9: Human Cheese

So now that we've established that there is relatively little difference, in theory at least, between human and cows milk, the extension of that logic to cheese is a pretty natural one, wouldn't you say? So called "human cheese", cheese made from breast milk is certainly different, but um, apparently, no less tasty than the traditional alternatives we get from our mooing friends.
